Hot Pot and Colin Farrell
09:26 PM | Comments (12)

I managed to be super-unproductive, and for once, it feels good. No guilt. No worries. Just good times. I don't know why I'm feeling so lax this term (except for the occasional Season's papers frustration :@), but it really feels good. It's good to finally get a hang of this university thing.

GOOD FOOD IN WATERLOO?
Weekend was pretty good. Finally had the opportunity to have Waterloo Hot Pot. I must say, I'm pretty impressed, for Waterloo standards. It's nothing like Markham, but the thing is that it doesn't cost like Markham. All you can eat for $12.95. You get the usual, pork, beef, and other goodies-- but also, the seafood: squid, oysters, and other stuff that I don't know how to say in English.

Anyways, seriously, I haven't been this full in a very very long time. It a good feeling. *Happy sigh* (That's for you James).

COLIN FARRELL:
Saw A Home at the End of the World, which was based on the book by Michael Cunningham (Author of The Hours). It was a good movie.

Lets start with the obvious: the piece of eye candy Colin Farrell. I usually don't think he's hot, but he definitely gave off hot vibes in this movie. I think the main reason is that his role is actually not the bad-ass that he's known for. His character, Bobby, is modest, charming, innocent, clean shaven, and nicely groomed. He really needs to look like this more often.

The movie is about a love triangle between a bisexual guy: Bobby, a gay guy: Johnny, and his fag hag: Claire. However although there is the theme of sexuality in the movie-- which seems to be the big attaction to the movie (which includes me)-- the flick is more based on the theme of love/friendship.

Each individual relied on each other in some way, which made the love triangle seemed appropriate and embracive.

Bobby who lacked loving affection from his family, needed and expressed love from Claire and Johnny.

Johnny loved Claire but he lacked the physically connection with her because of his homosexuality, he loved Bobby since the time of his childhood, but Johnny just consideres him as a brother, despite their encounters.

Claire wanted a family, and wanted Johnnie to be the father of her child. But at the same time, she loved Bobby as he accpeted her with both arms.

It was a wonderful film because I understood and identified why they managed to make this "love-triangle" work, and from that, created a home for the three of them, and their daughter. I suggest you all to check it out.

There was apparently supposed to be full frontal nudity on this film. Yes. I know. Colin? Full-frontal? Salivation? Anyways, it was cut because people thought it was highly distracting when it was screeened at the SanFran LGBT Film Festival.

I guess I could understand.

"Drop it like a Fob" and Pizza
03:23 AM | Comments (11)

Omg, I still can't stop cracking up.

The roommates and I on the occaision do what every university student does: order pizza.

Tonight when I came home from the volleyball game, I noticed my roommate, Tommy, watching tivo with what I perceive to be pineapple and ham pizza. So here goes the scenario:

Matt: *gasp* You guys ordered pizza without me? Tommy: *laughs* This is not delivery.... it's Delicisio! Matt: Hahaha, yeah good one.

HHAHHAHHAHHAHA!

The funny part is that it really was Delicisio! I can't believe I feel for the damn commercial trick! It really really looks like Pizza Pizza delivery! No joke! Omg, those guys at Kraft have quite an amazing product!

Man, I should definitely go buy some and take advantage of my utilities.

In other funny news, let's all get acquainted with Anoop Dogg with their video rendition of "Drop It Like a Fob", via Janelle:

HHAHAHHA. This is brilliant. Hmmm, I wonder what *our* Anoop is up to. I see him at P-Mall quite often back a while ago.

Mariah, Stuff by Duff, and U of T
02:21 AM | Comments (6)

Hullo, it's time for a blogging update.

Emancipate me
Under the influence of Thomas and his Mariah-ness, I think I'm quite digging her too. I caught her on BET the other day. Her new single, It's Like That, is pretty good! It's pretty addictive to listen to. But one thing I can't stand is to see her sing. She reminds me of Jessica Simpson-- they both go totally insane under the mic. The twitching, exaggerated vocal gestures, and their wide singing mouths---so large that I can pretty much see their fillings.

Nevertheless, thumbs up to Mariah. Maybe she'll make a comeback with this album: The Emancipation of Mimi. I assume that she's Mimi; I wonder what she's "emancipating." Maybe it's her already-mini miniskirts. Sorry, yes, that was a cheap shot. :P

Matthew to U of T?
I'm thinking of being a UT Visiting Student. Haha. I know, you guys all think I'm insane. Maybe their large ads plastered on Imprint is starting to influence me-- with that happy Asian girl. Well, since I'm back at Queen's Park in the Spring, I might be cool to just fill some time and take a class once a week. Just as an excuse to do something-- and to get a needed 300/400 level credit that I will be deficient of if I pursue the Business Option. There's an Economic Development class (hope it doesn't conflict with our PLAN 362) to take in the evening, and also a Medical Geography class-- which sounds kind of neat. Or maybe another microeconomics class? Hmmmmm. erm...AH!

Their course codes are funny. If someone would like to enlighten me with what Y/S/F means, that would be fantabulous.

Hmmm, or am I just crazy to even think of going to school on top of burdensome work? And it will be the nice summer time. Yum. Maybe this isn't such a good idea-- but it would be neat if I *did* find a place to live downtown. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Bay Olympic Apparel?
I don't know if you've all heard, but HBC scquired rights to be the official outfitter of the Canadian Olympic Team-- beating out the popular Roots.

I have mixed opinion about the switch to the Bay. First off, I think Roots have become way too cocky lately-- having designed not only in Canada, but the US, Great Britain, and Burmuda as well. So in that sense, it would be nice to say "Ha, suckers!" Second off, I'm not a big fan of Roots. The apparel is pretty bland, and it's doesn't come cheap.

At the same time, I think this is a great opportunity for the Bay and Zellers to position themselves as the All-Canadian store, unlike their tough rivals Sears, and Wal-Mart in the mass merchandise market-- and maybe, just maybe Canadian patriotism will drive in more sales. Maybe.

However, I am a little nervous on how they will end up looking. Maybe it will be a collaboration with Stuff by Duff. That would be interesting. Guess we'll just have to see.

Gloomy Times
12:56 AM | Comments (2)

The flags at UW were at half mast today to commemorate the late Professor Dufournaud today, our jolly stats prof. I captured this picture on my way to the lab today.

Even the flags seem gloomy.

I remember the times back in ENVS 278, when I'd be consistently late for class, because it was at 8:30 am 10:00 am (Update: it wasn't as early as I thought)-- if I wasn't mistaken-- it's a shame I didn't have the liberty to take Multivariate Statistics. It seemed like all of you-- and there was many of you-- had a blast in the class. I remember how rather energetic he would be even though it was super-early. I also remember his chicken-scratch overhead stats notes. I also remember cramming math late at night for the midterm and final-- never a good idea-- and ended up with a poor mark-- but I was asking for it.

Because of Dufournaud, I will never forget ANOVA: Analysis of Variance. Hehe, it will be forever in my head.

I still remember MSN-ing Tiff, because I didn't get something-- and where we discussed how Anova Lee would be a good name for my future daughter.

To make it even worse, one of my beloved marketing group members, who I love dearly, was involved in an ATV accident when she was vacationing with her husband and child in Mexico this past Reading Week. I received a call from her husband today informing me of the situation and that she will not be attending classes for the rest of the term-- I was completely awestruck. She's currently in the hospital being treated for several broken bones. Luckily, the family managed to get back to Canada in one piece.

I'm really going to miss her.

I think it's the most unfortunate to encounter these accidents on vacation away from home. I cannot even begin to imagine how it would have been like to have to seek medical attention in some place foreign-- especially when there is a cultural and language barrier. It is one thing to be in a foreign place, but in addition having to deal with these life-threatening situations must be unconceivably terrifying.

Going back to Professor Dufournaud, I understand that he was taking a year off oveseas to develop an Urban Planning program at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). It undoubtedly must be frightening to undergo something this tragic away from familiar soil.

Back to marketing, if you have a minute to procrastinate, I've uploaded our marketing presentation video that we put together several weeks ago on psychological pricing.

Download here [RAR: WMV, 9.6 MB]

Take a look, and tell me what you think. It is purposely done "amateurish" to give it more of a humourous spin. My apologies to the choppiness of the video, the WindowsMedia compressor is very poor. And btw, this is not the video I've been working on all this week-- that's another project. ;)

The file is RAR'ed, so you will have to decompress it. Unfortunately, I cannot put it in hyperdot, because I hog webspace than I should be-- and Sympatico limits to 10 MB, so it's perfect.

Our marketing group will never be the same. :(

Comment me if you'd you cannot read RAR files (...and shame on you, if you don't)
