Matt's Web Design History

Hey hey everyone. I’m here enjoying my lovely time at home on Monday night, as my class is cancelled. Yippie! It would be even sweeter if classes are cancelled tomorrow. C’mon where’s the snow!?! Though according to theweathernetwork.com, we’re only expecting 5-10 cms. Which sucks, cuz it’s just irritating having trudge in the darn snow.
MCHQ: Matt’s genesis in web design:
I was casually checking out some web stuff, when I all of a sudden stumbled on I site I created back in 1998! Omg, it’s sad that I created the website seven years ago. It was called MCHQ— Matt’s Celebrity Headquarters- which is a portal of the several celebrity sites that I’ve created. I know I know, you guys are all probably laughing at me, for being a geek at such an early age. What’s sad is that since the merger of Geocities and Yahoo several years ago, they’ve closed all my sites (because of the long duration since my last login), except for my Sugar Ray site.
In addition to those celebrities, I also made a Dexter Freebish website— you might recall them from their album, A Life of Saturdays, and particularly their song Leaving Town. Anyways, I teamed up with this dude, Blaine, from Texas, and DFonline was born.
I also had a Savage Garden website, where a company sponsored me a free domain name in exchange for banner ads, but they closed down without any notice in 2003 :( Thank God I still have a back up of the site sitting on my hard drive.
Oh my gawd, I also made a site with Emily, which also was under the “Geocities Curse” It featured with fobby Hong Kong celebrities (y’know, when HK music was acutally good) like ???, ???, ???, ???, there were a few others, but I don’t remember.
OMG, do you guys remember Asianavenue? Haha! It’s still in operation! My user name is big-balbosky, named after the wrestler that I liked in high school, Val Venis, ohhh the WWF WWE, those were the days.
It’s funny now looking at the sites that I’ve made. You’ve really seen so much changes in web development in the past decade. We’ve for sure came a long way— some to our benefit, while others, not so much. I remember all the e-retailers before the big dot-com bust— where sites were not all owned by evil Amazon. I really enjoyed the concept of “Neighbourhoods” from Geocities, and Yahoo! then took them over and scrapped their entire idea. Now, my precious Rogers webspace is also a Yahoo! Geocities account, since they’ve collaborated late last year, it is now called Rogers Yahoo! Canada Geocities. Crazy crazy crazy.
It’s actually getting ridiculous— the merger names. Kinda like chapters.indigo.ca, although I support them 100%— if only they were as competitive as Amazon, haha. On a side note, Indigo is now selling iPod products, and is offering rebates if you sign up with audible.com, an audio-book e-retailer. Smart move Indigo, but quit it with the online jewellery.
QUEST:
Has everyone checked out the upgraded QUEST system? It’s pretty neat, and resembles the other HR, and Jobmine interfaces. But apparently, it is giving grief to those who recently dropped courses before the Drop 1 date.
ADDENDUM:
Omg, I’m looking at this entry, and wow, it really shows how much time I had on my hands making all those websites. Good old high school! Remember when we’d talk about how “stressed” we were with ISPs (haha, it’s so fun to say that again)— or Independent Study Project. Haha! Haha, I recall how my “stress” involves slacking and shopping at Markville, Pacific Mall, and having “afternoon tea” after classes.

Ah, old websites... I remember the days... I have all of mine on my harddrive still... but I don't think I have any more of them left online. My first website was called "Laurence's Files" in my X-Files geeky days.... and it was on Geocities/Area51/1166... how was that for a good address?
Then I started my MIghty Ducks NHL fan site... and then that branched to an Oilers NHL fan site... oh so many websites... so much wasted server space haha...
I don't like the new QUEST --- since it looks like JobMine, it gives me the chills.

hey you typed chinese! i'm so proud that i know ALL of the HK celeb you mentioned. TOnight's the finale of the airplane show on Fairchild. i honestly hope that Zoe (the annoying bitch) dies. she's way too happy to be human. hmmm i wonder if you even know what i'm talking about.

You subscribe to Fairchild right now, Tiff? Oh my. I haven't watched Fairchild since like... 2001. And that was because I was obsessed with that Armed Reaction show where there's the two girl cops... lol

Oh the show however, they keep calling her "So Yee." That soo irritating me-- the subtitles and the dialogue doesn't match. UGH!
Yes, Zoe should die, so that we can save ourselves from her perkiness. Ugh, pisses me off. Those other young characters piss me off too-- just pretty Asian boys and girls who can't act-- it pretty much sums up the HK pop culture.
I still love Flora, though. She's great.
I watch a several episodes of the show during reading week, and I'm so tired and turned off by these TVB Drama's that continue to attempt to make every fucking scene emotional. Enough already. It's not sad, it's just pathetic. They ridiculously stretched out the show to a ungodly 40 episodes, when it could've probably finished with 20-- some episodes told us jack shit.
This show is incredibly not worth the hype. Apparently as a result of the show, there was a massive enrolment in flight attendant schools and pilot programs in HK.
Oh jeez, gimme a break!!!!

Zoe rocks! Flora sucked! (Well, her character did), she should've just stayed crazy and died. Fuckin' annoying bitch..."I don't know... I really don't know", nuff said.
Don't argue with me cause you're not going to see BP, so blah to you!
High school was great, it's that time to renew hyperdot.net again, probably we won't be doing that. Lol, maybe we'll work something else out. We'll see.

Alright alright alright. HAHAHAH OMG MATT, Highschool feels like it was so long ago...like what the fuck, we were both net nerds (still are) but that was back when nobody was online yet. I had all those websites too. I had a Mariah one, one about Disney World LOL (I haven't changed at all) and a few just about me. I think there were even a few with pictures from those "parties I used to have in my basement" OMG MATT do you remember those parties? Like back when ANITA and AARON were dating??!???! and when Tanya wasn't well.....housing impaired :( The "red-light" parties HAHAHAH that sounds so wrong.....OH MAN reminiscence HAHAHAH and how bad I wanted to work at your McDix with you and Gillian CHONG !!!! omg....
anyhow, on another note, some hkPOP is still pretty good. Kelly Chen sucks lately but Jay Chou is still good and there's this group that's basically comprised of his cousins and stuff...hrm I think they're called .???? but that might be the song name so I don't really know...hrm, or maybe they are his friends?! ah either way they're good! HAHAHA and Andy Hui! I LOVE ANDY HUI! He can be my wife...

I had tried to put a webpage, but then figured it was too much work to have to constantly update and stuff and decided i'd rather spend my time doing other stuff (really it was just cuz i'm a lazy asshole)
