4 days Until Christmas
11:51 AM | Comments (2)

I am happy to report that I have reached a milestone 142 pounds. I'm happy because this is indeed the first time in 21 years have I reached over 140 pounds. After much thought, I think this is an ideal weight, now it's about how to sustain it. Sadly however I'm sure this will not last for long as I will be back to the 'Loo in just one-and-a-half weeks. Its time to say hello to sandwiches again.

I'm going to agree with my traditional grandmother; I don't think Chinese people were born or meant to eat sandwiches.

I'm going to miss Toronto food. Argh.

Work has been pretty good the past few weeks. I think I've finally grasped the concepts to perform in this job, and it's great to work with dedicated positive people. I've definitely learned a lot these four months, I could actually see myself do this on a full-time basis. I gladly accepted their offer to return in May. Yay!

I got a Christmas card from the our minister today. He has custom Christmas cards with photos of his family. It's so cute. Haha, I want to definitely make those some day :P.

Only 4 days until Christmas!! Yay! I'm soo hooked on to 97.3 EZ Rock's Holiday Radio! Haha! It's so great!

I suggest everyone to blast the station in their cars.

Did anyone e-mail Santa? Tell him what you'd like for Christmas! I told him I want Summer. He better come through with my gift.

I wonder if he has a blackberry.

Office Facials
04:07 PM | Comments (0)

I just discovered something interesting in my cubicle.

It feels incredibly soothing when you take a stack of warm freshly laser-printed sheets and place it on your cheeks.

Who needs steam facials when you've got laser-printed documents?

Mmmm, I think I need some private time at my desk.

Viva York Region!
01:55 AM | Comments (9)

Everyone, I'd like you all to meet my new girlfriend, Viva.

Viva is the new rapid transit brand for York Region, and I must say I'm really loving her. Even though she doesn't exactly exist yet, but she's cumming. Phase 1 of Viva will be completed in Fall 2005, which will involve all-new low riding rapid transit buses, queue jump lanes, transit signal priority, and up-to-the-minute transit information at bus stops. Although this is still far from efficient transit service, I really feel this is a great and positive step in York Region.

Phase 2 will be what I really dream about. Although York is still negotiating a contribution agreement, I would think that the project will be finalized sometime late 2005-early 2006. Phase 2 will involve fully dedicated bus lanes (similar to the Spadina LRT, but with BRT) in the centre of the following avenues:

> Yonge from Newmarket to Finch Station
> Highway 7 from Martin Grove in Vaughan to Cornell in Markham
> Vaughan Interchange District to the new York University Station.
> Markham Centre to Don Mills Station.

Here's the transit route map for more details.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Although I estimate that I will be 30 by the time this project is complete, it's still better late than never. Too bad it's not close enough to my house, but Denison and McCowan Stations would benefit me most.

... there's a Phase 3, but let's just not even go there. I'd by an old granny before that time comes. It involves light rail.

There's this one thing about the Viva logo. I must give credit to Novae Res Urbis -- an municipal politics newsjournal -- for this interesting finding?

Viva La Diff?nce?

Along with York's ambitious rapid transit plan, York has also developed a strong regional growth strategy. Following this strategy is definitely another story. I attended a few presentations from York officials this term about how they're striving to build more sustainable land-uses. Let me show you a visual timelines they've developed on how the urban landscape will change in the next decades. The images are almost surreal. I was thinking of making a GIF of these images to really show the essence of the changes, but I didn't install ImageReady.

Here they are. The location depicted is around Interchange Way aka "Vaughan Corporate Centre". Home of IKEA Vaughan, Dave & Busters, FP Colossus, and what I call 'Outlet Mall Country':

> Vaughan Stage 1
> Vaughan Stage 2
> Vaughan Stage 3
> Vaughan Stage 4
> Here's another perspective on Yonge Street.

Personally, as a planner who really wishes to see this kind of development, it almost seems unreal that this can materialize especially in Vaughan-- which is undeniably the worst municipality in York in abiding Smart Growth principles.

As a proud suburbanite, even I think that the developments in Vaughan are disgustingly depressing and they definitely don't reflect on the efforts to bring more sustainable growth in the rest of York. Given the circumstances York being a Toronto suburb, Markham and Richmond Hill are doing a great job in changing its previous sprawl development habits-- at least doing a better job than Cambridge , Vaughan and Mississauga. As for Richmond Hill, it's land is pretty much completely utilized, so the only way to grow there is up-- which is great to know.

What am I getting at again? I always do this. I just want to let you all know how enthusiastic I am about the developments in York Region, and hopefully, I have sparked some enthusiasm to you all as well-- WOO, Go Viva! Go York! I'd love to talk up Markham, so bring it on! I'd love to talk about it.

Orgasmic Calendar
11:31 PM | Comments (0)

As exams loom closer, calculators can definitely be quite useful. engineers mathemeticians, and economists may be well aware of different specialized calculators, but I'm sure they've not encountered one quite like this one.

Check out the Orgasmic Calculator. Note: Turn on your speakers, given that you're in a private environment! :P

Addendum:
I'm loving this calculation right here:
83434 X 9 ? 5 ?67676767676767

Don't forget to press 'C' when you're done!

If you were wondering, the answer is: 1.1095402835821 e-08
( obviously sex doesn't understand order of operations, they do things linearly or if you will, 'horizontally' :P )

no wonder 8 is my favourite number.

please guys, don't have fun with it as much as I have-- believe me.

It's starting to look like Christmas...
11:16 AM | Comments (3)

I?ve officially cross off Lindsay Lohan off my to-do list.
Not because she was... uh... done, but because my fantasy with her is over. [Remember this entry?]

Yes I know, we indeed had a short-lived relationship, but you can?t really blame me. I'm really starting to see the correlation between her and Britney Spears: natural fugliness. It's magically amazing what excessive makeup, some strategic lighting and a some photoshop magic can do to a celebrity.

C'mon at least Britney's pictures were from paparazzis, this one was taken with YTV's The Hit List Host, gee whiz. Eww, look at her excessive freckles.

Sometimes I wonder what they can do with me if I get the fortune to be on GQ, CosmoGirl or [Insert Magazine Here]. ....hey, or maybe the can work their magic and make me Lindsay Lohan, ohhh or maybe Hilary Duff! Yes, I want to be Hilary Duff.

HAPPY DECEMBER EVERYONE!

I'm really feeling the Christmas spirit, and for once I don't have stupid school this term to make me bitter during this special time of year. I shamefully watched Nick and Jessica's Family Christmas tonight. It was actually quite an entertaining show and made me all gooey inside.

Jessica is a pretty good singer; one pet peeve is that she has pseudo-seizures during her performances. Its so bad that I have to close my eyes to enjoy her singing. Brian McKnight is pretty amazing. His effortlessly strong voice and humble character makes him pretty sexy. I have nothing to say about Nick Lachey, his remaining boyband posse, and Ashlee Simpson. They all suck.

I think I'm ready to dig out the Christmas music out, go I can feel more gooey. Whenever I hear Oh Holy Night, I get all paralyzed, and I have to pause and listen-- I'm a big sucker for that song. What sucks is that I don't get to hear the Christmas music they play at Chapters-- which I took for granted, it feels so weird not working there.

Though there's this one song that I will forever not tolerate: Barbra Striesand's renditon of what I call "Jingle Bells on Crack."
