November 2004 Archives
Last night, I had the pleasure of watching The Greatest Canadian on the CBC. In all honesty, such distinctly good programming is really hard to come by. I would like to first of all commend the CBC for broadcasting this month-long series; it really attempts to unite us as a nation and reflect on many of Canada's great accomplishments. I think that with the increasing political turmoil south of the border, there is increased appreciation of what it means to be Canadian. Patriotism in this country has not been this high as I long as I can remember.
After watching the program, I think it is still difficult pick on candidate as the "Greatest Canadian." The accomplishments of these ten individuals in no doubt have definitely shaped and built the great Canada that we all cherish today.
With the exception of some heated debates, which included some unexpected harsh realities and attacks on some candidates, there was by and large an undeniable positive energy from all viewers. Pierre Trudeau and Sir John A. Macdonald were among the people which raised many disputes. It's the beauty of politics; you simply cannot make every one happy.
Among the top ten greatest Canadians, insulin developer Frederick Banting, environmentalist David Suzuki, and cancer hero Terry Fox tops my list for the greatest Canadians.
Who's your greatest Canadian?
Be sure to watch CBC tonight at 8 for the final results!

has anyone realized how shitty muchmusic has become? it might as well call it MTV. what the fuck does Pimp My Ride, MTV Cribs have anything to do with music? Even Newlyweds, that show with Carmen Elektra, Fandemonium is really pushing it as "music" programming. i don't know if it's because i'm getting older, or is MM getting crappier.
whatever it is, vegging around watching muchmusic (like what i did tonight) can kill critical brain cells.
neverthess, i finally saw the lindsay lohan video 'rumors'. omg. i think she's my new britney spears. the video was so hot that she made me wet my pants.
Anyways, she soooooo going on my "to-do" list. yep.
do my homework... check!
make my lunch... check!
take a shower... check!
do lindsay... double check!
mmm. speaking of to-do list people. i've compiled a small list of 'to-do' people. (yes, i have no life, bite me)
- Jude Law... yum!
- Johnny Knoxville... ruff!
- Daniel Wu... oooo!
- Adam Brody... pinch his 'cheeks'
if only i can complete this list, like right now. mmmmm.
mmmmm, i'd like to know, who's on YOUR to-do list? besides me of course.... ;)

Google is definitely a superb, state-of-the-art web seach engine. This impressive piece of work has been a considerable source of referals to Mattism. Among many of these visitors are some interesting commenters. Remember:
Missy Elliott's Fondue Adventures?
Hannah Sung's Muchmusic Romp Secrets?
My apparent "judgement on people by there [sic] nationality?"
Bow Wow being 110% buff?
So those are the old ones. Here comes some fresh comments:
Reading makes me to become less of a piece of shit?
Dear Brad,
Why so bitter? Don't get your panties all in a knot and and face it: not everybody a lot of people don't enjoy reading, especially reading textbooks.
I assume you're an avid reader since you have such a strong advocacy for reading, so why do you have such crass and unintelligent writing?
Unlike me, I'm sure you're a smart guy and it's great you enjoy reading. But I'm a firm believer that you are how you write. People often judge others on how you express a particular message, especially if the medium involves writing. So if you're smart, write smart. :)
Thanks for visiting.
Kind Regards,
Matt
And finally, my personal favourite: Waterloo students are supposed to be smart.
Dear Waterloo students are supposed to be smart,
Did you steal my bike? Because if you did, God knows and he will stick a big fat dildo up your fat ass. Oh yes, I would like it back please and thank you.
I have a question: Since when are Waterloo students supposed to be smart? I mean, last time I checked, I go there-- so how "smart" can they be?
I don't understand how you managed to get 96 in BUS111, not because I think you're academically challenged, but because if I'm not mistaken, WLU is on a alpha-grading system, and getting 96 is just impossible. But you're totally right, getting a "better" lock would be best. If you have a chance, please let me know what is a "better" lock. Through my experiences, locks only keeps honest people honest. So what is it? I'd love to know what a "better" lock is because I'm totally clueless.
But you're right, I'm dumb and I shouldn't go to Waterloo nor should I own a bike.
Best of luck at Research in Motion, hope you're having fun with your RIM-Job and playing with Blackberries. I'm so jealous. (Tee hee, I couldn't help myself.) I apologize for IP-tracking you, I was just curious what information I can dig.
Yours Sincerely,
Matt

welcome back everyone! after a short hiatus, i've managed to put together my new layout and upgraded my publishing platform.
earlier this week, i was in the mood for change. this feeling doesn't come too often. so i decided to wipe out my earlier version of MT 2.1 and upgrade it to the new MT 3.121. boy was i in for some geeky fun. after uploading all the files for MT 3.121, i was impressed with the refreshing chic interface. however, the impressed feeling halted there. MT has completely neglected to debug this new version. at first, i thought it was due to my negligence, as i often 'scan' instructions instead of carefully following it. however, after 4 installation trials, i think i can come to the conclusion is the platform is a piece software crap what reeks like my feet after a long day of leather-shoe-wearing work. ugh.
i ended up installing a previous MT 2.661. i was so pissed that i was going to switch platforms, but i really don't want to learn another platform since i haven't used any other platform since my switch from greymatter.
so yes, lots of exciting stuff in the new mattism:
> repaired the long-malfunctioned "remember me" function in the comments section
> new rss feed for my blog
> expect a photoblog as soon as i collect a considerable amount of digital pictures to implement one
hope you're enjoying the new layout. i'm currently obsessed with with vector imaging with illustrator. it's a lot of fun.
speaking of obsessed. that new destiny's child song is super-addictive. i mistook the song as a beyonce song, but eric mentioned it to me yesterday that it was actually a band song. quite interesting because it seems like beyonce's voice dominated the entire song.
speaking of songs, there's been a lot of great songs released in the past month. maybe this is to make up for the lack of good songs this summer. i can honestly say that this there was 'no song of the summer' this summer. although this may be because i was stupidly in school this summer season. anyway, comment if you think i stand corrected. here's what i've been checking out ('non-radio' people, read no further)
> Destiny's Child - Lose My Breath
> Duran Duran - Sunrise
> Avril Lavigne - Nobody's Home
> U2 - Vertigo
> Lindsay Lohan - Rumours
