The Greatest Canadian
10:05 PM

Last night, I had the pleasure of watching The Greatest Canadian on the CBC. In all honesty, such distinctly good programming is really hard to come by. I would like to first of all commend the CBC for broadcasting this month-long series; it really attempts to unite us as a nation and reflect on many of Canada’s great accomplishments. I think that with the increasing political turmoil south of the border, there is increased appreciation of what it means to be Canadian. Patriotism in this country has not been this high as I long as I can remember.

After watching the program, I think it is still difficult pick on candidate as the “Greatest Canadian.” The accomplishments of these ten individuals in no doubt have definitely shaped and built the great Canada that we all cherish today.

With the exception of some heated debates, which included some unexpected harsh realities and attacks on some candidates, there was by and large an undeniable positive energy from all viewers. Pierre Trudeau and Sir John A. Macdonald were among the people which raised many disputes. It’s the beauty of politics; you simply cannot make every one happy.

Among the top ten greatest Canadians, insulin developer Frederick Banting, environmentalist David Suzuki, and cancer hero Terry Fox tops my list for the greatest Canadians.

Who’s your greatest Canadian?

Be sure to watch CBC tonight at 8 for the final results!

Shima,
Something to hold on to, eh? Mmmm, that's turning me on.

Italian hot sugar daddy? Is that even possible? You better keep your eye out. Oh Shime's, remind me to tell you someone to look out for ;)

Leo:
My wanting to be fat stage is over. Soon I'll be a skinny man with a huge tummy (like those kids on World Vision). That's not good.

Herb:
Haha, we'll see about that. :P

You need to watch more World Vision commercials.

Large pot-bellies in children are prevalent in many improverished countries because they are nutrient deficient and completely and utterly malnourished. The disease is called "Kwashirkor."

--What do you know, I've finally found a use to damn Vanlieshout's World Issues. :P

Let's hope that that's not true: you met me in Grade 7. That was hardcore puberty time, at least what I recall.
