Sex and the City
03:18 AM | Comments (6)

Its been a fun few days.

Me and the Bowster got tickets to see The Last Empress. It's a Korean drama musical at the Hummingbird. Wow, it was amazing; the vocals just warm your heart, y'know that feeling? Anyways, the entire musical was sung in Korean, so I had to strain my eyes to read the subtitles. Nevertheless, the play was great. I highly recommend it. We had dinner at this restaurant of what I call corporate-funded-dinner restaurants. Big Daddy's Crab Shack and Oyster Bar, it was called. Anyways, yeah I call it one of those corporate-funded restaurants because you're surrounded by middle-aged white collars obviously talking about business. Well, the food was fabulous; however, excess crab always makes me do an intense "Number Two", if you know what I mean.

Saw Garden State back last week, I forgot to mention. I'm going to disagree with Ram's review. It was a pretty shitty movie. Okay, maybe just moderately shitty. I enjoyed Natalie Portman's performance; she's a great actress, not to mention really pretty. The movie was pretty funny. However, I utterly cannot those movies with a flatline development plot. There's no rise in excitement, no climax, no nothing. It remained flat their entire movie, it's just like Lost in Translation, and other snoozers like that. But great soundtrack single, however. Thanks Eric for the treat nonetheless.

Today, what more fun to waste a day than be two couch potatoes? Bowie and I, yes again, skipped off to Blockbuster and rented the entire first season of Sex and the City. It is such a hilarious and just entertaining show. Seriously, do lower-middle-aged Manhattanites really have that much sex? If so, I'm moving to New York City. I don't care how expensive it is.

Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) definitely always has the best way to explain our sex societal norms. There is no better way to waste an afternoon than to watch four female urbanite engage in all kinds of sexual situations.

UHHHHHH! I need to move to New York!!!!! Anyone like to join me?

Yes, this desperation to "move to New York" has kinda just recently hit me. Since when was my last real date? I'm thinking exactly when that was.... thinking.. thinking.. thinking... oh gawd, looking at my pathetic school term, what have I accomplished? School sucked, grades lowest in my uni history. I've been looking at pictures of me in the past few months-- omg, I look disgusting: ungroomed and unkempt. What else, yes love life-- uhhh let's see-- non-existent and there is just no one who has caught my eye. That may be due to the fact that I have developed a very sad sad monogamous relationship with a man named Dana Porter. Yes, the library. WAAA!

This term is going to be different. Must go out more. There's no excuses, especially with no school. Okay, that's it. First, let's start with scrapping Sex and the City marathons, and get my ass out more.

Ughhhh ughhh ughhh! (... and important planning news)
05:52 AM | Comments (5)

My apologies for my non-updatedness. There's lots to catch up on.

Camping was super-duper fun. Aside from the huge mosquito bites and the crazy cuts I got following off the tube when we were tubing on the gorge. Thanks to Ramanan, he managed to capture back some of those crazy memories. Here we all are all happy as we head towards the tubing starting point on the Grand River, and here is after I fell for off for the first time trying to catch up to some of the others, because of the previous gusty waves from earlier. Oh yeah, Ram is like the photography guru guy. His photos kick crazy ass, check out his photoblog and abuse his broadband.

What else about camping. OH yes, the mega-moaning from a particular mysterious tent. Lets crack down this mystery shall we? Detective Matt has discovered from this entry that Tiff has professed it was not from her tent, and I am certain it wasn't Shima's tent since the offensive sexual resonances just didn't seem to be coming from that direction. And I swear to all you planners that it was not me and Martina. C'mon trust me, if I really made someone moan like that, I would definitely admit it.

Consequently, I have narrowed it down to three possible suspected moaning culprits:
- Paolo & M-tuna (Yes I know, all three of us shared a tent, but you never know, they might have taken advantage of my tiredness but little did they know...)
- The "TWIT Bitch" (But then again, they said they had kids on the campsite, I don't think they would succumb their children's innocence
- The remaining third party, I won't name names. Yes, maybe the third party. Ahhh yes. The third party.

Case is closed.

But seriously, that was gross. Even for me, and I'm fucking dirty.

Oh yeah, speaking of dirty, Liz and Jeff made me an interesting birthday card!!! Let's just say that it involves a certain Calvin Klein underwear model and a pop up penis. I love it! You certainly can't get these at Hallmark!!! I must say, those architects can definitely create some good work!!! You can erect my structure anytime.

Oh oh, it has a great birthday message too, "Bon(er) Anniversaire!" Very creative guys! Even I can't think of that one! ;) and hopefully, Liz is right that I get "stimulated" soon.... academically that is. Thanks for all the signings, I love cards.

Oh yes, thanks to Les/Tiff and the Shimester for the transportationness. :)

My time back in Toronto has been fun. Went to Centre Island, $1 Ikea Breakfast, Kill Bill Marathon, managed to walk on Yonge from Dundas to Eglinton, not to mention from the Ferry Docks to Chinatown. Yikes.

I went back to Waterloo to do the billion errands I missed and of course, bring the shitload back to Toronto. Awww, I'm really going to miss my room. You really develop an attachment to it after one year; even those it was indeed a shitty house with the shitty small bathroom.

Oh yeah, I have news from the Planning. It's quite big (not me... well, yes it's big, but that's besides my point). Ajay is not with us anymore. He secured another professor job in the States, where is wife resides. I guess no more brutal urban design crits!! But actually, after working with him last term, he's a pretty good prof. For the time being, Michelle and Anu will be back to teach the design courses along with Karen, so planners keep your panties and manties on.

As much as we all complain about the Planning ladies, I like them. Yes, I'm the brainwashed planning co-op student. They're fun old ladies. They're so "see lai", and they've totally converted me to be as well. From healthy lifestyles, to gardening, to decorating. Forget acadmic advising, they should go into home design consulting! Me and MJ managed to talk about backyard gardens for like an hour. Becuase if her, I am determined to rip out the disgusting weeded lawn in the backyard make the awesomest garden.

I will not rest until I'm the Asian Martha Stewart! You'll see.....!!!

G'bye Waterloo!
02:57 AM | Comments (5)

I'm officially 21 everyone! Thanks again for all the warm bday wishes :) Thanks for the thoughtful gifts and celebrationness, you guys rock. if i was on xanga, I would give you all super props :P ! You're all the best!

So yes, not only do I get to celebrate my birthday, I also get to celebrate my school-doneness. TALK ABOUT COOL OR WHAT! But seriously, having an exam on my birthday (or even close to it) has been very foreign to me for the past 17 years of my schooling. Damn you Waterloo for unforeigning it for me! Waterloo, love it love it!

So yes, I'm finally done half of my university career. wow. i wouldn't say that it passed by fast; just moderately fast. really really hoping that the second half of uni kicks some first-half ass. please pretty please UW. Special thanks to the Planners that made it all a little easier to bear-- espcially this difficult times this term; Bow for being the super-duper Waterloo buddy (tho not a 'privileged planner'); Shima for being my partner in crime, and making a kick-ass gis project that *ahem* TA obvious envied!; Tiff for being the spunky girl that she is; Marty, Larry, Shawn, Mark, Scott and Paolo you guys all rock, even though we all only had one class (for the most part) together, we stuck quite close nonetheless :) we're family now la. and of course, the kids in toronto--mark, leo, eric, eugene and jenny--for making my stays back in toronto un-waterloo-like, just the way i like it.

i'm finally out of my beloved 46 Amos pink house, or better known as "69 Anus". Yes, we pushed it a little. Anyways, i'm gonna miss this house, despite their paper-thin walls that don't guard noise that you perhaps don't want to be heard. :S Goodbye consistently half-dressed construction worker sublets! buh bye! Someone remind me to haunt them down for not playing the fucking gas bill!!!! Jaime and Paul have been excellent roommates this term; kudos for both of em. It's funny how much closer we've become this term; i would not have imagined the happy roommate conclusion. I have absolutely no rants whatsoever; and you know being me, that's BIG!

fucking economics is done, ranting about it will end as of right now. exam sucked; he managed to trick us again. thank god for my neighbour hamish for bringing me from failing to passing miserably. he's a cool planner who spins and has wine parties. go hamish. i will find out how i did next week economics; so no promises, i suppose about the non-ranting.

alright, i will be gone for several days to elora gorge with the planning folks. omg, its 2.55, and must get up at 8.00! AHH! better get to bed! matthew no electricity? no real shower? living in a tent? i must have gone insane. :P i'll let you know how i will manage. but hey, if paris and nicole can run across the country doing what they did, i guess i could live with this :P
for once, a planning gathering that does not involve school! looking forward to seeing everyone including liz and jeff who i don't see as much as i should. :D take care everyone!

Time for New Entry
05:28 AM | Comments (18)

Hello. I'm back in the crappy-loo once again, studying for the last final. Yes,
it all ends this Friday, August 6th! (Wow, I sound like some shitty Clearance Sale Commercial-- mmm The Brick) Yes, the agony ends in good timing, on my big two-one bday. Oh my gawd, I'm turning 21. I can just see it going downhill now; hello wrinkles, goodbye erection. goodbye youth, hello chronic mahjong.

Anyways, my weekend was not too eventful. Finally managed to see Touch of Pink. A Canadian film (Hourrah Canada!). With much of its base right in the suburbs of Toronto. And no, it wasn't Toronto-trying-to-be-an-American city, it was actually Toronto!

Anyways, its an interesting gay romantic comedy with a South Asian twist; yes, definitely not your usual chick-flick. I won't get into the nitty gritty of the synopsis (see link). It was a great film. It really showcases gay vs. the conservative family characteristics. Through this movie, I've really see the similarities between the brown-culture and the yellow-culture (excuse my racial undescriptiveness)-- perhaps that's why we blend so well here in Milliken! Anyways, I really enjoyed this film, maybe a little too much. I really identified with it, and simultaneously envied them, despite their hardships. If anyone has seen it, or plans to see it, lemme know; I'd love to start a movie discussion! :)

Since I've been such a naughty lazy boy the past weeks, I made a extra effort to attend mass this weekend. And I must say, I don't see my usual church buddies. Where's Debbie? Where's Catherine Lau? Where's Nick? Where's Derek?

Did I miss something? Maybe I'm not up with the Markham trends; maybe church is out. However, who I did see was Roger; it's kinda strange seeing him outside the Loblaws McCowan Market; which is the bestest supermarket btw. (Yes, I'm so 'see lai', sue me)

Speaking of what's out, I wish the whole emo bonanza rots in hell. I was doing some shopping downtown before hopping on the Greyhound, and it's disgusting the amount of emo kids are out there.

When I mean emo, I'm only talking about fashion. I could care less about the shitty bands and not to mention their "omg, i only listen to indie music; radio music is so uncool" fans. oh gawd. that's another topic altogether.
but then hey, i like hilary duff, who am i to judge, right?

oh yes, back to fashion. being "emo" is no excuse to look ugly. okay, i admit, some look good. but then i'm thinking more george stroumboulopoulos, which i suppose is only pseudo-emo. i like argyle, i don't mind the styled hair, and hey, i don't even really mind the emo-glasses. what i can't stand are the dickies ultility pants and i can't stand the polyester super-tight super-short shirts. c'mon it's like too bland for queen street, too hideous for church street. and please be nice to your body, and let it breathe and absorb sweat! if this is the step in attempting to look "different", i'm sorry, then mediocrity it is!

Oh, i forgot to mention the value-village-resold-at-urban-outfitters shirts and jackets. Yep, I'm sure its great to spend a fortune to look shoddy (don't get me wrong, not all stuff an urban outfitters is shit.) i forgot what i was heading towards with my entry.

With all this emo-talk, do you know what i wanna be, tho? those cool culturally-inspired, artsy but yuppie, fab-five-plus-martha-stewart eccentric asians. hmmm, what to do la. i suppose emo might just be what i need to do :S. back to square one. (ew, sprawlish mississauga, lol; sorry liz!) time to find some polysester, argyle and plastic thick frames; i wonder it i can get a polyester argyle shirt? hmmmm. or argyle glasses; now that's different!
